Senior director and former Union Minister of state for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao passed away on Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 75.

Dasari Narayana Rao holds the Guinness Book of Record for helming 125 films in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. Besides directing films, he also produced 50 films.

Some of the films like Megha Sandesham, Premabhishekam and Majnu are cult classics in his film career.

Most of his stories dealt with social injustice and corruption. He received two national awards, nine state Nandi Awards, and four Filmfare awards.

Dasari planned to make a film on late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
